Freak on a Leash

A serious topic for today.

There's this happy-go-lucky guy who keeps on making fun of stupid opinions and ridiculing them. He takes most things lightly, as he thinks if you take stuff too seriously, you end up as either 'damaged goods' or like boxes with 'handle with care' stickers.

Making fun of idiotic situations is his prime pastime and commenting on stuff is his second nature; but this kind of a personality invites frightful consequences. He's asked to become emotionally sound, judge unimportant situations and think before mouthing funny stuff. Putting a stop to free flowing words is like putting a leash on a fiery Doberman. The leash breaks violently and recoils, to hit the hands that are holding the leash.

He's made to listen to earful after earful of dumb, meaningless and baseless statements (according to him), as to why his making fun all the time is so awful. They don't see that it's one of the few things he actually enjoys doing. "You shouldn't do this.", "You shouldn't do that.", "You shouldn't say this." and "You shouldn't say that." seem to have been added to his music playlist as the most popular tracks. He gets as irritated as you are getting now, just hearing the story.

He decides to test whether they understand the implications of what they are telling him to do. He mutes his jokes and puts a stop to ridiculing them. They become very enthusiastic for some time, thinking he finally thought of listening to them. Needless to say, the fun stops and they are transferred to their previously sad states. Being boring is what they choose over a bit of fun.

I mean, why is humour taken so seriously? It's supposed to be taken in the opposite way, that is, lightly! As soon as people realize that "humour" is supposed to be taken "lightly", a big burden will come off society's shoulders.

P.S. : All thanks to Cahzuda on deviantART for the picture.
