Humour : a word which almost the whole world is familiar with. Something that is funny to one person may not be so for someone else. I bet we've all been in the situation when you crack a joke while in a group, and everyone turns to you and just keeps staring, as if you're their next meal.
Such situations arise due to the different senses of humour different people have. There are mainly three senses of humour. Caustic, straight and slapstick.
Caustic humour involves the use of sarcasm and dryness, thus resulting in witty comebacks and clever insults. It mostly comes in use while taking the case of someone in front of you. If that person is semi-clever, you've hit gold if you know your sarcasm.
Straight humour or blatant humour, as they call it, involves the mouthing of obviousness to which the subject's friends would break out into hysterical laughter. I don't quite understand their reaction, but who am I to judge?
Next comes slapstick humour. I'm sorry to say this, but people still acquire a good time by getting into the mood of exaggerated violence. This is a type of humour my class in college is in love with.
Finally, I'll come to the now-emerging sense of humour, perverted humour. Anything and everything that can be related to the human body and perceived in an unusal way, is made fun of. The other day, we encountered a topic in class "pumping lemma". Now,we aren't going to stay quiet and ignore that, are we? Yet, only three students out of forty got the joke, and started laughing in front of the teacher itself.
So, don't get irritated when the person in front of you is using a different brand of humour. Just find him more people like himself.
