Rama, Rama! What's this drama?

Who likes the performing arts? Movies, shows, plays and the like? Almost all of us do. They are a treat to the eyes, ears and the mind. Lets shift towards the flavour of this blog. Now, who likes the performing arts in real life, acted out in front of them?

Anyone up for the heightened excitement, the expressive gestures and the 'whatte line' dialogues? If your answer is yes, then this article is probably about you. You might want to stop reading at this point in order to avoid embarrassment. Don't take offence, though; I already warned you.

Lets get down to the finer aspects of the dramatics exhibited, now shall we?

Mush : Two characters expressing their friendship or love (or something else, for that matter) onscreen need to show themselves the way they do because they have to keep us interested. In five minutes, they express emotions that the characters have had for a lifetime. Thus, it has to be intense. But this is reality, you do have your whole life to express whatever you have inside you. If you make the fire too hot in the present, there might not be any wood or coal left for later! So tone down the mush, because it makes the people around you to select their middle finger, shine it up real nice, and stick it straight down their throat, in order to throw up what they just heard. If you have to be really mushy (in order to win favours, maybe. I won't state where you want those favours, though.), then do it in private and spare us the torture.

Anger : The angry young man you just saw in the movie was so inspiring, right? Such intensity, such anger? Wouldn't it be awesome to be like that somewhat?  I will answer for your audience: No, it definitely would not! He is the protagonist in the movie. If he didn't behave that way, the movie would be a flop. But, in real life, when someone says to you "Yes, I did. What are you going to do about it?" with a taunt, your psychological comeback shouldn't be "get angry". Your judgement would be clouded and the outcome, far worse. Getting angry with a situation or person is probably the worst thing you can possibly do. Plus, it is so much work to calm down and be cheerful again. Lazy people like us don't value the effort you are putting in anyway! So why?

Out-of-this-world sensitivity : "You have been with me for so many years and this is how much you know me?" Oh, boo hoo! Stop being a baby and grow up, will you? Bieber wasn't singing about you when he composed that oh-so-wonderful song. Being sensitive about everything gives off a 'wet rag' kind of a vibe. Not many want to be around that smelly, moist entity; except other smelly, moist entities! So, when two wet rags find each other (God forbid!) it is a regular, soggy fiesta! Good luck to anyone who has two such people in his/her circle. I'd recommend investing in earplugs. And contrary to popular belief, it is NOT cute. Sensitivity, to a certain extent, is a good thing, but after that, it becomes kick-you-in-the-crotch irritating. Now don't you get over-sensitive about this; all you will be getting is a hard, cold shoulder.

Thus, dramatics is a treat when its onstage or onscreen. Once it descends to our mundane lives, the admiration evaporates and all that's left are sharp words and sharper blows. Try not crying over this, alright, you big baby?

  3. Who likes the performing arts? I do. But what's to be kept in mind is that they aren't exactly a treat to the eyes, ears and the mind. They are a treat only to the mind and the mind alone. They say, "Mind your own business, and not EARS your own business, or EYES your own business, for that matter.". Just wanted to clarify. Other than that, the post was decent. A bit over-done at places, which is ironical. Anyways, cheers.
